How To Make Friends In Jamaica

By Andrew Hill

If you have just moved to a new place or country, you may feel so lonely and isolated because of lack of buddies. Therefore, you have to find a way of having new companions as soon as possible. Making friends in Jamaica is not difficult because the people of this country are friendly. Even though the place is hot, you can have a good time if you are with buddies. People of this country are also very welcoming and social hence, if you follow these tips, you will be able to form new friendships.

A simple smile can do all the charm because it is not every day a stranger smiles at you. Thus, if one smile at the natives whenever you meet, they can smile back. The locals are not usually shy hence they will tend to be responsive to the positive vibe. More so, they can even start a conversation with you to know you more.

Besides the smile, greetings are more important, especially in this country. This is simply because they have a culture in which greetings are a symbol of respect and politeness, especially to strangers and foreigners. Thus, if you make a point of greeting people in the morning, the afternoon as well as evening, you can easily get yourself a new buddy who will feel that you are kind and polite.

While in this country, it is wise to be greatly interested in the natives culture. Normally, they have a very interesting culture that is so wide. Therefore, if you meet a person and ask him/her to tell you more about their culture, they will be so happy to tell you all you need to know. Thus, at the end of the day, you will have a new mate.

Another important thing is to share your drinks especially alcohol. Although the natives may not be hardcore drinkers, people who drink together tend to stick together. Therefore, this is a good way of making new buddy. One can even invite some of the people you meet to come to your place for a drink, and they will gladly accept.

If you happen to have lost your way, do not shy away from asking a native to direct you. This is because they love foreigners and they will be ready to help you out of any difficult situation. More so, they may ask you about your origin as they help you find your way. This can strike companionship because you will have known more about each other.

The sharing of food can form the best companionship. Therefore, if one ask a local to prepare you their native food, you can be surprised that he/she will accept with an open heart. More so, if one tell them how excited you are to be in their country, they can offer to show you around, and you will end up becoming good mates.

Last but not least, attending social events can also do the trick. This is because a good number of people will also attend the events hence you may be able to meet locals and even other foreigners and start conversing with them. Any event, concert, or a summit can be helpful.
