The use of screw conveyor systems is wide, especially in large-scale industrial applications. These systems have numerous advantages that enable them to be used in many work setting, making them preferable over other conveying systems. The main advantage of these systems is low maintenance. Also, they offer cost effectiveness. This is worth knowing about stainless steel screw conveyor systems.

Systems of different sizes and shapes are available in the market so that one can choose based on the needs they have. The main purpose of screw conveyors is to move loads from one location to another. Applications where dry unrefined materials need to be converted into fluids find these systems very useful. The systems can move materials through vertical, horizontal, or inclined angles.

With a typical conveyor system, loose materials move through a tube where they are converted into semi-liquid. In most cases, in order to ensure that these systems last long, they are made using stainless steel. Hence, many people prefer them to other kinds of conveyors due to their ability to last longer. These conveyors can last for years if the installation and maintenance are done right.

However, the durability and proper functioning are guaranteed when the system is given the necessary preventive maintenance regularly. One should look for a professional technician to identify and fix any problem in the system if it started producing unusual sounds. Generally, these conveyors are designed with an inlet and an outlet. Materials are fed into the system through the inlet so that they travel the tube and are ejected through the outlet. The ejection of the material is done through the process of positive displacement. The material is moved using a helical blade, which sits inside the tube. The spiral blade is coiled around a rod, which is directed at one end and maintained in a fixed position at the other end.

There are four main models of conveyor systems and they are named based on the angle through which the materials are moved. These models are shaft-less, vertical, horizontal, and inclined. Horizontal conveyors are capable of moving all types of materials, including free-flowing, lumpy, heavy, and light materials. Like the name suggests, they move materials horizontally. These conveyors are made into different lengths. Some systems are very long and capable of transporting materials over a long distance.

Inclined conveyors are installed at a 45-degree angle from the horizontal. The angle of inclination at which the system is installed determines the efficiency of delivery of materials. When the angle of inclination from the horizontal increases, efficiency of the system reduces proportionately. Shaft-less conveyors are made with no shaft inside the tube so as to increase efficiency and eliminate possibilities of clogging.

Vertical conveyors are designed to be able to fit in any kind of plant setting. These systems are also very cost effective. Most wastewater treatment plants make use of these systems. The systems are mainly used in industries that deal with chemicals, food, wood, and minerals.
