Make Entrees Taste Better With Chicken Seasoning Rub

By Gary Bailey

Cooking is not as hard as some people make it out to be. However, making a healthy meal does require a little planning that may not be easy at first. Individuals who are being forced to discover their culinary side may find there are some nice surprises, like chicken seasoning rub for entrees.

This is another area that separates a quality grilling experience from one that may be rushed or have a step missing. The flavor of the food never lies. Some people feel that drowning their beef, chicken, or pork in a barbecue sauce is the remedy but there are some ways to get that outdoor taste.

There are also many flavors from which to choose. To get that outdoor grill taste, hickory or smoke flavors are a good choice. What many people do not realize is that poultry flavors are not limited to the grill, as rubs can be used to season baked chicken, turkey, or duck.

Rubs tend to have a very intense taste so unless the meat is very dense, it is not necessary to leave it overnight. Many quality rubs have herbs and spices that are easy to see and smell upon opening. What most people like about these is that everything is premeasured, so failure is near impossible.

There are also other flavors like garlic herb, teriyaki, and spicy. While the majority of these are fairly mild, when going with a spicy or buffalo flavor, it may help to give it a taste before adding more spice. Unlike the premixed seasonings, these are not finely ground spices that sit on a supermarket shelf for months.

For those who like their meals a little lighter, many of the milder flavors can be used to season potatoes, seafood, and certain types of squash. This is a way of adding restaurant style cuisine without having to leave a tip. One thing worth noting is that most fish and vegetables are not as dense as meat or poultry, so adding a little rub right before cooking ensures even taste.

If a person can pour water into a glass, they can prepare an entree using a seasoning rub and have a meal in less than a half hour. All it takes is placing the seasoning on top so that it can adhere to food while cooking. Although some people like to let the rub sit for an enhanced flavor, this is often not necessary.

This is just to say that having a couple of rub flavors in the pantry can be a true lifesaver. If a person can pour a liquid into a cup, they can rub this seasoning all over their favorite poultry or fish. An alternative would be to use a clean plastic bag that can be sealed and pour the contents, followed by the protein. Give it a few shakes before placing into the broiler or preheated oven.
